Occasionally, her first on-air role was at KARE-TV in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she began her career working behind the scenes. Over her 25+ years of experience in the broadcast news industry, Kelly has received several accolades, including multiple Emmy awards, a Mid-Atlantic Emmy for Best Evening Newscast, and an Edward R. Murrow Award (2023) for Breaking News Coverage of the I-81 deadly crash caused by snow squalls.
