Brian Wilkes is an American Meteorologist currently working for FOX59 since joining the station in July of 1995. He currently serves as the Chief Meteorologist at the station.

Currently, he works for FOX59 as a Chief Meteorologist. Wilkes got his start at the Fox Affiliate in Elkhart, Indiana, WSJV-TV. There, he served as a chief meteorologist, where his forecasts appeared every evening at 6 pm and 10 pm on WSJV News. During his stint there, he was producing, writing, and hosting a documentary on the Palm Sunday tornadoes that struck South Bend, a city in Indiana, in April 1965.
During his stint in Indianapolis, he has been recognized with multiple awards, including an Emmy Award, from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. This was for co-producing and hosting the severe weather special “Blown Away” in the year 1996.
Also, he has been a host of 2 other severe weather specials “Ahead of the Storm”, which in the year 2001, won him another Emmy Award. In the year 2001, when Wilkes was hosting the “Singin’, Swingin’ Holiday Special”, he sang together with his orchestra. This was a show that was featuring various song artists from around Central Indiana.
Wilkes has been passionate about weather since he was in grade four when the 1979 blizzard struck the south side of Chicago, where he was raised. During this cold stormy weather, his excitement for the weather was sparking. The blizzard kept Wilkes out of school for fourteen days.
Wilkes is an active member of the National Weather Association, as well as the American Meteorological Society. He holds the National Weather Association’s Seal of Approval, which he received in August 1996. During his leisure, he likes visiting central Indiana schools and volunteering to various charitable organizations. Also, you can find him teaching when he is not chasing the weather.
