His on-air career took him from Salisbury, Maryland to Richmond, Virginia to New York City, and back home to Washington, D.C. His passion for weather began at an early age, he jumped right into the business shadowing his mentor, Doug Hill after graduating from George Mason University.
Spending time in New Orleans only days before Katrina hit is one of his most exciting memories. Van de Graaff’s source of pride is becoming an Eagle Scout as a young adult. He is trying to use some of the skills that he learned from the organization and stay true to its ideals. Traveling is one of his hobbies as he has traveled across the U.S. and the globe, his farthest journey thus far being to Australia.
