Beherns is a weekend sports anchor and was promoted to sports director. Bret landed his first position in the industry at WSIL-TV in Carterville, Illinois. Prior to working at WSIL-TV, Beherns served as a sports anchor and reporter at WSIU-TV from August 2008 to May 2010. Additionally, he worked as a sports intern at WCIA from August 2007 to March 2008. Prior to being an intern, he worked as a sports Stringer at The News-Gazette from December 2004 to March 2006.
Before returning home to work for the station he grew up watching, he spent three and a half years there. Bret almost lost his life in a near-fatal accident in 2006. He began a new life with an amputated leg after spending 56 nights in the hospital and 13 days in a coma, but it isn’t slowing him down. Bret is making the most of his chance to start a family and pursue his passion while giving God praise along the way. With the help of his lovely wife Jenna and their three kids, Bret resides in Mahomet.

Bret Beherns Accident
He is aware that without the lifesaving treatment, he received in 2006, his job and family would not be feasible. The incident caused Bret to lose his leg. He was in the hospital for 54 days and was unconscious for 13 days. Bret claims, “While working on a mobile phone tower in Rochester, I was involved in an extremely serious accident and flung 80 feet in the air. “Fortunately, after suffering a lot of injuries, I was able to receive excellent medical care.” “I don’t remember anything leading up to that accident,” he claims. “However, I do recall waking up after a 13-day coma, and my first thought was, “Where am I? Why don’t I have a leg? ” Bret learned he received multiple blood transfusions. After recovering, the generosity of strangers inspired him to give back as well.
