Doost was born and raised in Kabul, Afghanistan. While in her childhood days she loved watching Soviet tanks and troops on city streets. During the Russian invasion her family escaped Afghanistan by fleeing to the Afghan-Pakistan border. While there they lived in refugee camps and later moved to Germany before eventually finding a permanent home in Texas. After they arrived a family friend taught Doost and her siblings English.

Doost is an investigative reporter for KXAN News. Being an Emmy Award-winning journalist, she covers everything from women’s health to consumer complaints. Her work on maternal health highlighted problems in 2019, with how Texas tracks deaths and near-deaths in the station’s “Mothers Erased” investigation. She has also been part of “Catalyst” investigations working with the team on “Mayberry Texas” which uncovered flaws in the state’s missing persons database and “A History of Mass Violence,” about mass shootings across Texas.
Arezow contributed to a digital-first investigation called “Locked in Limbo,” in 2020 which focuses on mental competency among inmates in jails. Her work was also featured in “Pandemic PASS or FAIL: Solutions for Education Equity” in 2020, which showed the pandemic’s disproportionate impact on students. Prior to coming in Austin, she worked in Dallas-Fort Worth reporting and anchoring for seven years. While there she led investigations into rural county cover-ups, political misconduct and consumer complaints.
