Throughout his career, Andy has received numerous accolades for his journalistic contributions. These include two Emmy nominations from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, a prestigious “Best Documentary” Award from The Associated Press, and recognition with a “Best Breaking News Coverage” award from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
Before his return to the Grand Rapids/Kalamazoo/Battle Creek market in 2011, he held weekday anchor positions in Charlotte, Columbus, OH, and at the CBS-owned and operated WCCO-TV in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Beyond his professional achievements, Andy is actively involved in his community. He is a sought-after guest speaker and emcee in the Kalamazoo area, dedicating his time to various volunteer initiatives. Andy serves on the boards of directors for organizations such as the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and the Community Healing Center’s annual “Serve for Kids” charitable tennis event.
Additionally, he is a founding member of the Kalamazoo Italian American Club. Andy has contributed to charitable efforts by producing a monthly segment on Newschannel 3 Live at 5 to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Michigan. He was honored as the 2016 Community Healing Center “Child Advocate of the Year”. Additionally, has previously chaired the Discover Kalamazoo (Convention and Visitors Bureau).
Throughout his extensive career spanning over two decades. Andy has reported from various locations worldwide, including Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, and Brussels, Belgium. His professional credibility led to an invitation as a guest of Congress at the 2023 “State of the Union” address in Washington DC. Andy’s passion for storytelling extends beyond journalism. He co-authored “Columbus Italians” for Arcadia Publishing and has made appearances on the nationally syndicated “Dr. Phil” show. In addition, in the 1988 Orion Pictures feature film “Eight Men Out.” Outside of work, Andy enjoys staying active with interests such as tennis, biking, and bocce, and indulging in his love for Italian cooking and travel.
