Fancher is a reporter at WIS-TV. He began his first job working as aboard a saltwater fishing vessel before migrating into construction and landscaping before age 16. During his time at community college in South Dallas, he self-funded a critically acclaimed web series on the lives and legacies of World War II veterans. During his senior year of high school in 2017 his efforts of World War II veterans. were subsequently featured on NBC Nightly News.
Afterward, Andrew transferred to the University of North Texas (UNT) as COVID-19 consumed the country. He became an invaluable member of his college news station, North Texas Television (ntTV) through lockdowns and hybrid learning, Duering his two-year tenure with ntTV, he served on staff as an Assignments Coordinator, anchor, Director of Special Projects, and reporter. Fancher’s self-funded investigative work spanning from Mainland China to Washington, D.C. landed him three Lone Star Emmys and seven nominations. Later while covering CPAC 2021 he was called “fake news” by Donald Trump.
While in his senior year of college, Fancher worked for two months on the Texas-Mexico border as a freelance journalist. Since 2019 he was the first reporter permitted a ride along with U.S. Border Patrol. He was commended his impartial reporting of the nation’s humanitarian crisis by USBP’s Chief Patrol Agent of Texas. He joined WIS as a general assignment reporter weeks after graduating UNT cum laude. He yearns to represent the voiceless while fighting for the underrepresented.
