During Hurricane Michael in the Florida Panhandle, she reported before, during, and after the storm. WPLG was the first South Florida station to send a crew to cover the catastrophic Category 5 storm that ravaged large portions of the Florida Panhandle.
In October 2018, Alex also traveled to Pittsburgh to cover the horrific mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue and Local 10 was the only South Florida station that traveled to Pittsburgh. She has worked in newsrooms around the country, from New York City to Alabama. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to interview a wide variety of high-profile people, including President Donald Trump, Oprah Winfrey, the Rev. Al Sharpton, and President Barack Obama.
She also covered the widely publicized Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley scandal that led to his resignation, and the heated Alabama Senate race between Roy Moore and Sen. Doug Jones. Finnie also had the honor of covering the 50-year anniversary of “Bloody Sunday” in Selma, Alabama, the event that led to the Voting Rights Act. During her free time, she enjoys volunteering in her community and spending time with her family.
