Brackett is a meteorologist at KFOR News 4 in Oklahoma. Prior to joining the KFOR 4Warn Storm Team, he worked in Tucson, AZ working at KGUN. He also worked at WREX  in Rockford, IL. Brackett pretty much learned to read by watching the local forecast on television when was young.

During his working time in Indiana, he became the Director of Valparaiso University’s Storm Intercept Team. He also participated in three 11-day storm chases on the Great Plains. Brackett gained experience in forecasting while interning with WGN’s Tom Skilling in Chicago. During his time in college, he worked as a mentor for the inaugural year of VUTV and as an on-air personality. He covered the January EF-3 tornado that devastated northern Illinois in 2008 and earned national recognition on MSNBC for that coverage.

He landed his first on-air job commuting three hours each way to give the weather to his hometown on NBC affiliate WREX while still in his senior year at Valparaiso University. After one year, he was promoted to weekday morning meteorologist. He covered a high-end EF-2 tornado that ripped through Caledonia, IL where he was the first on the scene and the only meteorologist streaming live for nearly two hours.

In 2011, he moved to Tucson, Arizona to work at KGUN. While there, he served as a meteorologist and science reporter for two years. He forecasted everything from record Monsoon rain to blizzards. After watching one of Oklahoma’s worst severe weather outbreaks in 2013, he knew he wanted to end up in the nation’s heartland. Furthermore, the American Meteorological Society honored him with the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal.
