Mastrangelo is a meteorologist for WICU-TV / WSEE-TV. His interest in weather began at an early age. The winter of 2015 was his most memorable weather events in New England when Boston broke its all-time seasonal snowfall record, and also when his town was hit by a microburst packing 100 mph winds. His fascination with extreme weather led him to take an internship working at the Mount Washington Observatory atop the northeast’s highest peak in the summer of 2021.
While the high winds (80+ mph a few times) and postcard sunsets were nothing short of amazing, A.J. was glad to gain valuable experience forecasting operationally and sharing his forecasts with clients across the region. Being an undergraduate, he produced and recorded forecast videos for the Campus Weather Service, Centre County Report, CNET-TV and PSN News.
During the spring of 2022, Mastrangelo was selected to dance at the largest student-ran philanthropy in the world known as Penn State THON. While there he took a stand against childhood cancer, not sitting or sleeping for the 46-hour telethon that raised over 13.7 million dollars. Being an active outdoorsman, he is looking to explore Presque Isle State Park and the Alleghenies on his days off.
