He later joined and graduated from PennState Clarion University where he graduated with high honors, Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication.

Chenevey works for FOX 5 news serving the station as a Morning Anchor. Born and raised outside of Pittsburgh, Chenevey claimed he truly felt at home when he came back to FOX 5 in 2013. Being a third-time Best Anchor Emmy Award winner, he has also won two prestigious Edward R. Murrow Awards and six Emmys (in total) while at FOX 5.
As a high honors graduate from Clarion University, he started his career in journalism as a radio presenter. This was before getting an employment opportunity in sports TV covering high school football. He, later, moved on to cover pro athletes in NFL and NCAA. He went on to work as a news anchor for WYTV TV in Youngstown, Ohio for about 3 years from February 1996 to November 1999.

In 2012, Chenevey joined the team at WJLA-TV in Washington D.C. Metro Area as a news anchor, hosting the Morning News from 4:30a.m-7a.m and the Noon Newscasts at ABC7. He worked in Washington up to October 2013 before he rejoined Fox Television in November 2013 where he still serves as a Morning News Anchor (6a.m-9a.m). Steve anchors Washington’s #1 Morning News and Good Day DC from 9a.m-11a.m at FOX5.
He has had tons of interviews with top athletes, celebrities, politicians, and newsmakers in his many years as an Anchor/ Reporter. In the interviews, they have had discussions ranging from business to music and had a sit-down with former 1st lady of the United States Michelle Obama in the White House. This is in addition to skating with Washington Capitals and talking music with rapper 50 Cent, and so forth.
Chenevey enjoys reporting the news and feels it an honor to be up in the wee hours of the night for almost a decade to help the people of Washington, D.C to get their day started, despite his humble beginnings. He claims some of the stories he enjoyed covering are the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina which he reported in New Orleans and the mine rescue in Pennsylvania which took about a week long. He has also covered Congress and the nation’s politics on Capitol Hill, where he spent almost a year.
Away from work, he is active in sports such as softball, and baseball, on a snowboard slope, at the gym or you can also find him at a guitar shop, or running around monuments. He also likes to travel, which is also a part of his job.
