Cruz is an anchor and reporter working for CBS12 News. She also anchors the 6 and 11 p.m. broadcasts for our Gainesville affiliate. Cruz is thrilled to serve this community once again in South Florida. She previously worked at WCTI in New Bern, North Carolina, where she anchored the morning news for three and a half hours, Monday through Friday. Cruz is overjoyed to silence her 3 a.m. alarm and return to South Florida, where she can be near her family in Miami. She worked as a reporter and weekend anchor at WCJB TV20 in Gainesville, Florida, from October 2018 to December 2019 before joining WCTI.
She built relationships with the locals, found sources, conducted research, and started stories while she was there. Additionally, for up to five distinct live daily broadcasts, shoots, writes, edits, teases, and delivers several tales. The weekend broadcasts at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. are annotated and co-produced by her. She also continued to host several charitable and station-sponsored events in her capacity as a WCJB ambassador. She hosts and creates a technology and culinary section each week. Additionally, she researched, set up live interviews, covered breaking news live, and MMJing every live shot were all duties of the morning live shot reporter in the past.
Live reporting and story production for the two-hour morning broadcast, as well as the afternoon and evening broadcasts. Anchorperson assigned to fill in for the morning and afternoon programs. Her duties as the weekend anchor include revising scripts, researching stories, and co-producing the newscasts at six and eleven o’clock. Alexis discovered her love for telling human interest stories and interacting with the community both on and off camera in Gainesville. She spends her free time outdoors with her dog Zoe, enjoying the sunshine, spending time with her family, and rooting for the Gators.
