Dave Spahr is an American Meteorologist /Reporter working for KRON 4 in San Francisco, California, in the United States as a freelance weekday meteorologist. He joined the station in 2015. He previously worked in San Diego and later Fresno, before joining KRON4.

Dave Spahr Career
Spahr is a freelance weekday meteorologist for KRON4. He is also a Weekend morning meteorologist and fill-in for other broadcasts throughout the week. He began his broadcast career after graduating from college. He first started working for a Summer postgraduate internship, to learn the ropes of local TV news in Jacksonville, Florida.
Dave’s first job in Fort Smith, Arkansas started with a bang, as on his journey there, passed a strong line of thunderstorms that produced tornadoes. Crossing the Mississippi, which had whitecaps, he landed on the other side of the front with blue skies and cool winds. While in his brief tenure, of news and weather, Spahr interviewed, then-Governor Bill Clinton.
Afterward, Spahr was off again, to Columbus, Georgia. By the mid 90‘s he was in Springfield, Missouri. Not only did the weather change every ten minutes, but it was very inconsistent over the region. It was not unheard of to have Winter Storm Watch at the same time as a Tornado Watch on the other side of the viewing area. Springs were often filled by very loud thunderstorms, even in the dead of night, followed by a sunny morning. During the winter, always on the lookout for nasty ice storms.
By the late ’90s, Dave had moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, which at that time, was a mini Hurricane Alley. In addition, the Winters provided challenges with the ‘Appalachian Wedge,’ which is a recipe for ice storms. Later in 2003, Spahr moved out West, to Palm Springs where he did the morning and noon weather. In mid-late July, the monsoon machine fires up, sending sticky hot air to the Coachella Valley. Often sparking off afternoon ‘air mass thunderstorms.’
In July 2005, his team was the first on and last off the air, as nervous residents were shaken by an evening gust front, spawned by Arizona Monsoon thunderstorms, bringing winds of more than 40mph to the Coachella Valley. Before moving to KRON4 he worked in San Diego and later Fresno. Through the years he also moonlighted as a radio DJ for some half a dozen stations, working CHR/Hot and AC/Adult Mixes. During his free time, Dave is an avid C-SPAN junky, a very amateur body surfer, and enjoys history.
