Dan started his career at CBS2 News in New York City as a desk assistant. His first on-air job was at WVNS 59News in Ghent, WV as an Evening Anchor. He was awarded by the West Virginia Broadcasters Association as the best general assignment reporting and best-breaking news coverage while working in the mountain state.
Thorn covered the opioid epidemic, landmark criminal trials, a statewide teacher strike, and a 1,000-year flood while leading the statewide team on WOWK’s “West Virginia Tonight.” He also interviewed several notable business and political figures including U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders.
Dan’s favorite stories are the ones showcasing people doing good in the community. He rode along with a man driving a message through the world of addiction in a ‘Heroin Hearse,’ and also had the pleasure to meet a 6-year-old boy named Cooper who got a new lease on life with a 3-D printed hand. During his free time, he enjoys traveling, watching sports (Go Yanks!), listening to music, and watching movies.
