Schaefer was born and raised in Alliance, Ohio, in the United States. She has a brother by the name of Thommie who was a recording artist in California. From 1979 to 1989 Stefani and her brother toured the country with the Bob Hope USO Troupe. They both owned a show at Geauga Lake Amusement Park in 1983, where they sang, danced, and played eight different musical instruments. The brother-sister duo was also the opening act for Barbara Mandrell, Chubby Checker, The Oak Ridge Boys, and Alabama.

Schaefer is a morning news anchor for Fox 8 News. She first started at FOX 8 back in 1992 and returned to the station where she began her career in 2007. She co-anchors Fox 8 News alongside Kristi Capel and Wayne Dawson. Previously before coming back to FOX 8 she hosted a national network show that was broadcast out of Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
Stefani taught voice and dance at her family’s performing arts center in Alliance, Ohio for twelve years. She was inducted into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame on 14 September 2008. In 1989 she received the Ohio Governor’s Choice Award and was Ohio’s Junior Miss / Ohio’s Young Woman of the Year. Schaefer is still passionate about music, and remains active today, singing the national anthem for the Cleveland sports teams and the Ohio Derby.
Schaefer has been very involved in the festivities surrounding the Canton Hall of Fame. She sang the National Anthem for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game and performed the opening and closing songs for the Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremonies in Canton for several years. Apart from hosting the Fashion Show and other festivities, she hosted the Hall of Fame Parade national broadcast with Dan Dierdorf for many years, including this past summer. She has been on the cover of Cleveland Magazine’s Millennium issue featuring Cleveland’s Most Interesting People of 2000.
In 2012, Stefani was also named Cleveland’s Favorite News Anchor and Favorite News Team. Her greatest accomplishment is being a mom to children Race and Siena… the loves of her life. They share a home with several furry family members, Millie, Gunner, Polo, Marco, and Lola, and several dozen fish and other critters!
