Tracy Butler is an American Meteorologist working for ABC 7 News in Chicago since joining the station in the year 1994, she joined the Morning News team later in the year 1995. In addition, she also serves the station as a meteorologist for the 11 a.m. newscast. In addition, she provides weather updates for SPN 1000 Radio and is serving as the longest-running female meteorologist in Chicago.

Between the years 1993 and 2002, she filled in for weather anchors, Tony Perkins and Spencer Christian on ABC’s Good Morning America. Prior to ABC 7, she was working as an anchor for the morning and noon weathercasts at WRIC-TV in Richmond, Virginia between the years 1992 and 1993. In addition, she was a chief weather anchor at WFMJ-TV located in Youngstown, Ohio between the hours of 1998-1991. She however began her broadcasting career working as a weathercaster at WTRF-TV located in Wheeling, West Virginia in the year 1988.
She is a sealed member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. In addition, she was named “Woman of the Year” by the Executive Women’s Golf Association in addition to winning the Illinois Treasurer’s Public Service Award. Later in the year 2012, she was honored to receive the Public Education Award from the Illinois Chapter of the MS Society. She was recognized in the year 2014 by receiving an Emmy Award, along with the ABC 7 Weather Team for the Special “Surviving the Storm.”
Later in the year 2013, along with the co-director, Scott Woodruff, she started a golf outing titled the Duke Classic, in honor of long-time ABC 7 cameraman, Michael Dukewich who unfortunately passed away in the year 2012. This outing raised nearly $100,000 to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Wounded Warrior Project.
In addition, she promotes the talent of children through her Weather Sketcher’s Club. This encourages children to send their weather-related drawings for potential airing on ABC 7 News This Morning. She states that she loves seeing how children express their creativity with markers, paints, pencils, and crayons. Their interpretations of weather elements on paper bring new eyes to something that affects everybody. In relation to this, students aged 13 and younger can send their weather-related drawings to ABC 7, 190 North State Chicago, IL 60601.
Away from work, she enjoys playing golf and participating in charity golf outings. Additionally, she also emcees the annual MS Walk for Charity and the Les Turner ALS Walk for Life. Additionally, she emcees events for numerous charities.
She is involved with the organization, ReClaim 13, a charity devoted to ending the sexual exploitation of children in addition to bringing awareness to human trafficking.
