Ta is a reporter and anchor working for WJTV in Jackson, Mississippi. She completed her studies in Literary Journalism at UCI and gained broadcast experience as a production assistant at KABC-TV in Los Angeles. After spending two years at WDVM in Hagerstown, Maryland, she joined WJTV as a reporter in August 2020. Being from Los Angeles, Mississippi has provided an exciting change for Thao, and she’s enjoying exploring the state, community, and culture.
She held the position of Traffic Anchor and Reporter at WDVM, Nexstar Media Group, from December 2017 to December 2019. During her tenure, she conducted interviews and wrote, and edited news packages for WDVM’s Hagerstown bureau. She reported live on weekday mornings on traffic updates. Previously, she served as a News Production Assistant at KABC-TV from September 2015 to November 2017 in Glendale, California. In this role, she supported assignment editors, reporters, and producers across morning, afternoon, and evening show productions using AP ENPS.
Her responsibilities included gathering and relaying video, conducting research, pulling and restoring tapes, and operating the prompter. Additionally, from July 2015 to September 2016, she worked as a reporter for Torrance CitiCABLE 3, where she conducted interviews, wrote, and edited news packages for the city of Torrance’s weekly show “This Week in Torrance.” She also honed her voice technique through the station’s recording studio. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading works by Rupi Kaur and practicing yoga.
