Shapiro serves as the noon anchor at WGAL-TV based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In addition to these roles, she also serves as the health reporter at the station. Prior to working at WGAL-TV, she worked at WTAJ-TV in Altoona, Pennsylvania where she served as an anchor as well as a reporter. Moreover, she also worked at Philadelphia Magazine where she served as a research assistant.
Shapiro has also won several awards and honors including the Mid-Atlantic Region Emmy in 2005, a Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Award, an Emmy Award for spot news in 1992, and several AssociatedPress Broadcasters Awards. In addition to that, Shapiro is also an active Board member of the Philadelphia Regional Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Shapiro is also an active member of the Rocky Springs Carousel Association and Lancaster County Safe Kids. She went to Pennsylvania State University where she attained her Bachelor’s degree in journalism. She was also a student at Manchester University in England where she studied British mass media.
