Hennessee works for News Channel 3-12 as an anchor. While he was a student at UC Santa Barbara, he got his start in broadcast news as a freelance journalist and intern for News Channel 3. Prior to joining the station, he worked for KPSP-TV for eleven years and four months as an Anchor and Reporter. In Grand Junction, Colorado, he worked for KREX-TV where he reported his favorite football team, the Denver Broncos.
Journalism grabbed hold of him at a tender age. It began with the sports page where he would follow his favorite baseball team each morning. He saw for the first time how important local news is to a community in need of information with freeways crumbling and fires dotting the city. During times of crisis that shook their community, he has been proud to be part of this exceptional team of journalists. After the May 23, 2014 attacks in Isla Vista that killed six people, they were first on the air with vital information moments. An environmental disaster hit the south coast in 2015.
Hennessee can still vividly remember the sight and smell of 140,000 barrels of crude oil that left a black mark on pristine Refugio Beach, while standing on the shore reporting live. Over the years, they have reported countless wildfires providing people with up-to-the-minute information to keep them safe. Some of his favorite moments have been led by opportunities he gets when connecting with people in the community.
He reported the first summit at Sunnylands with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Barack Obama. He broke the news about the sale of the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament to Larry Ellison, and he was lucky enough to interview many of his favorite athletes and entertainers.
