She runs Wildheart Homestead – there she is focused on nature, learning, and sustainability – she also helps rescue animals until they are rehomed.
Also, Bartell creates stunning ornaments, headdresses, and art pieces using leather, fur, and bones – mostly they are from animals or roadkill donated for valid reasons. She offers special discounts to her fellow “Naked and Afraid” cast members.
Bartell mostly eats food grown on her farm but hunts squirrels when needed. Also, she catches fish by handlining in the Columbia River Gorge. She is a proud mom to a number of wolfdogs and dogs, a bunch of sheep, and a flock of Ayam Cemani chickens. Her newest addition is Ayla (a 90% wolf) who loves cuddles. Bartell is also a photographer who loves shooting in abandoned houses, hospitals, and schools. She has a great eye for detail and also enjoys being in front of the camera.
Naked And Afraid Career
Bartell was in episode 5 of season 10 of “Naked and Afraid” – taking on the Ecuador jungle. She started with Makani Nalu (a famous vegan yoga instructor) and David Shirley. David left after 4 days, but Bartell and Makani Nalu finished the challenge together – they became the very 1st all-female team to do so.
During her time on the show, Bartell lost over 30 pounds (13.61 Kgs) and carried most of the workload due to Makani Nalu’s lack of effort. Bartell used her tracking skills to spot an ocelot near the shelter she built to withstand Amazon storms. Also, she dealt with painful insect bites – one of which got badly infected. The experience was tough on her mentally – but she made it through. Bartell also appeared in “Naked and Afraid: Just Kidding” – there she shared fun and memorable moments from the challenge of 21 days.
