While in college, he served as a baseball player and attained Three-year letter on the baseball team. In 2010, he was selected in Major League Baseball draft(Pittsburg Pirates) and 2010 (Minnesota Twins). Further, he served as the 2010 Western Athletic Conference champion.

Spangler serves KHON as a weekend anchor. Also, he serves as a reporter in the field during the week. He joined the station in June 2019. Prior to this, he served Spectrum Sports as a color commentator and a host. This serves as his second stint with the station. Initially, he served the station as a sports anchor from 2012 to 2018. Further, he served Spectrum OC16 as a color commentator.

From June 2010 to November 2011, he served Minnesota Twins as a pitcher. His most unforgettable encounter at KHON was broadcasting the 2012 Hawaii High School Athletic Association football state championship. When he is not working, he spends his free time with his wife and kid.
