His career as a broadcaster began in the year 1978. Then, he was working as a news announcer at the Baltimore Veterans Hospital and volunteer disk jockey. After joining WJZ-TV in Baltimore, MD, he got his television break and came to be known. While there, he was working as a sports reporter and weekend sports anchor. He has been able to work alongside Oprah Winfrey, with whom he worked while rehearsing for his television debut.
He has been able to travel to different parts of the world in and out of the United States through his sportscasting career. These countries include CT; Phoenix, Indianapolis, IN; Cleveland, Ohio, Durham, NC; Columbus, and New Haven, AZ. In addition, while working for the WOIO as a Sports Director, he was nominated thrice for the Emmy Awards. Additionally, Duncan also worked as a host for a morning radio talk show at WKNR-AM.
The year 2001 saw him start his own production company named “Slam Dunc Productions.” He also wrote and produced a number of documentaries during this time. Among these documentaries includes the award-winning “The Other Color of Winning.” This documentary is about the historic 1964 Cleveland Browns championship team.
Later in 2005, he added to his list of experiences a career as a host for “The Ronnie Duncan Morning Show” where he was working for Radio One on WERE-AM in Cleveland, Ohio.
Currently, he is happy to be working closer to his sports mentor, Sonny Hill who covered the 1975 NBA Finals on CBS a coverage that provided the spark to become a sports broadcaster. Duncan loves giving back to the community and in relation to this, he volunteers and works with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Veterans Administration, and the NAACP.

Later in 2014, he took the opportunity to jump from sports to news and joined the WNEM-TV news team in Flint and Saginaw, Michigan. There, he got an opportunity to have a one-on-one interview with Governor Rick Snyder from his apartment as he was covering the infamous Flint Water Crisis. It is with this interview and other breaking news stories that he earned WNEM the Associated Press award for Outstanding Coverage.
The year 2012 saw him move to Huntsville, Alabama where he won the Associated Press “Best Sports Coverage” awards and the Broadcasters Association’s “Best Sports Anchor” while working at WAAY-TV.
