Simmons serves WSVN as a co-anchor of the weekend editions of 7 NEWS at 5, 6, and 10 p.m. Prior to this, she served in Detroit since 2004. While in Detroit, she served WDIV as an anchor and reporter. Moreover, she had served WSVN as a general assignment reporter before joining WDIV. Later, she was promoted to serve as a Saturday morning weekend anchor.
During her quarter century with the station, she provided coverage for everything such as the Elian Gonzalez spiel, Timothy McVeigh’s execution, and the 2000 Presidential election. Also, she provided coverage for the 2009 Presidential Inauguration. In March 2014, she went to Vatican City for President Obama’s visit to Pope Francis. On a side note, she enjoys foreign films, baking, traveling, and getting to know viewers on social media.
