Hale is the First Alert Chief Meteorologist Riley for WRDW-TV. He has loved weather since at an early age. As a kid living in Charlotte, NC, he endured one of the worst ice storms in North Carolina history that left him and his family without power for two weeks. He recalls sleeping on an air mattress next to their wood burning stove and ever since that storm, he has been hooked.
During high school, Riley moved to Savannah, GA and as a family of Georgia Bulldog fans, he decided to join the University of Georgia. While in Athens he completed his degrees in Geography, General Business, and completed his Atmospheric Science Certificate to become a meteorologist.
Before joining the News 12 NBC 26 team Riley worked as a morning meteorologist for The Delta News in Greenville, Mississippi for two years. While there he covered a number of tornado outbreaks and the historic March 2016 flooding that caused the worst damage in the region since Hurricane Katrina. Hale’s hobbies include fishing, kayaking, playing basketball, and any other activity in the great outdoors.
