Richardson works as an Anchor/Reporter at NewsCenter 5. Alongside Jennifer Eagan, they anchor the Saturday morning (5-7 AM & 8-9 AM) and Sunday morning (5-7 AM, 8-9 AM, & 10-11 AM) newscasts. She has been part of WCVB’s award-winning news team for over 20 years.

During the Martha’s Vineyard vacations, she has reported both Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama and assisted in lead coverage of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the Boston archdiocese’s sex abuse scandal, and the Boston Marathon bombings.

Also, she has reported every blizzard and rare tornado to hit New England. During a six-week supermarket strike across the region, she is among the few journalists to personally speak to Market Basket CEO, Arthur T. Demoulas. She has held several roles including serving as an original co-anchor of the weekend EyeOpener when it was created.

Then, her multiple sources and ability to break news stories led her from the anchor desk to the “5 Investigates” team for several years prior to moving to general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for WCVB’s various newscasts. Her career has landed her at all #1 network affiliates.

In 1994, at KING-TV she produced a three-part series called Capitalism vs Communism, and was a contributing reporter on “The Today Show,” during a week-long international reporting assignment to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Before joining WCVB, she worked at the NBC affiliate in Seattle, the NBC station in Providence, the ABC affiliate in Manchester, NH, KING-TV, and WA; WJAR-TV, RI. From 1992-1994 she was involved in that station’s “Tuesday’s Child” segments and appeared on the soap opera “Another World” in a dancing scene for a behind-the-scenes story about life as a soap star at WJAR-TV.

Richardson was the recipient of WCVB’s Leo Beranek Fellowship in 1990 which brought her to NewsCenter 5 as a freelance news assistant. She officially created her career in broadcasting as an intern for CityLine, WCVB’s urban news program at WCVB in 1986.

Richardson was named one of “The 50 Most Intriguing Women in Boston” by Boston Magazine. Also, she graced the report of Northeastern University Alumni Magazine and was the first honoree of the University’s “Medallion Award.”

For over 10 years she emceed Boston’s annual “Duckling Day” Mother’s Day festivities and parade, sponsored by the Friends of the Public Garden and the Boston Parks & Recreation Department. In 1990, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern University, School of Journalism. Lately, she lives south of Boston.
