Phil Blauer is an American award-winning broadcast journalist/anchor/reporter working for FOX 5 as the Weekday 7 pm Anchor/Breaking News Anchor. He joined the station in May 2014.

Blauer works for FOX 5 News as the Weekday 7 pm Anchor/Breaking News Anchor. He anchors for the station at 4, 5, 6, 10, and 11 pm. Blauer loves his career because he gets to meet new people every day and learn so much about the world we live in.” He has been in his career for 35 years.
Prior to joining the station, he spent his time in these areas, KCOP, Palm Springs at KESQ, KCAL, KCBS, and KFMB. Also, he has been seen on Investigation Discovery, CNN,48 Hours, and Time Watch Daily. From USC he earned a master’s degree in Broadcast News.
He has interviewed six U.S. Presidents and reported major national and international stories. Additionally, he has earned many Edward R. Murrow Awards, and Emmys for Investigative Reporting, and also has been honored by San Diego Press Club.
Blauer began honing his journalism skills while working on student newspapers all the way through high school. Then he joined Cal State Fullerton, and studied Communications, and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Print Journalism.
In his spare time, he loves listening to all kinds of music, Trying to sleep, and sampling fine restaurants around San Diego County. In high school, he was part of a pirate radio station.
His most unforgettable TV moment was while reporting flooding in the Tijuana River Valley, he had his life saved by swift water rescue crews after a levee broke and nearly caused him to drown.
