Patrick Powell is an American Meteorologist working for WLUK-TV Fox 11 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in the United States as a Chief Meteorologist at Five and News at Nine. He joined the station in 2004. Before joining the station he previously worked at WOWT as a meteorologist.

Powell is the Chief Meteorologist for WLUK-TV FOX 11 News at Five and News at Nine. Before moving to Green Bay he worked at television stations in Texas, Indiana, and Nebraska. In 2003 he received the honor of “Best Weather Cast” for the state of Nebraska from the Associated Press.
Since Patrick joined FOX 11 he has earned the honor of “Best Weather Coverage” in 2005 from the Northwest Broadcast News Association, and “Best Weathercast” in 2007 from the Wisconsin Associated Press. Specializing in mesoscale meteorology (severe weather), he also chased tornadoes from 1992-2004. He was subcontracted by an engineering firm and the Department of Commerce for three of those years, to chase tornadoes and deploy instruments ahead of tornadic thunderstorms.
Over the years Powell estimates that he has personally seen at least twenty tornadoes including four tornadoes in two hours in 1999. He also chased the storm that produced the largest hail on record in the United States. He is not only a full member of the American Meteorological Society but he served on the Board of Broadcast Meteorology for the AMS.
Patrick upgraded his old AMS Seal of Approval in 2006 to the new Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal of Approval. This new Seal tries to uphold the scientific standards for meteorologists on television and it requires a B.S. in Meteorology, continuing education, and passing a rigorous test. He is also on the committee that reviews this test for the AMS. Powell enjoys being outside, football, water sports, and camping. He also uses his chemistry background by making his own wine.
