Russo is a Meteorologist working for NBC12 News in Richmond, Virginia. In October 2018, Russo became a member of the NBC12 First Alert Weather Team. In 2020, he was recognized with a regional Emmy for his work on NBC12’s coverage of the metro Richmond flash floods. NBC25/FOX66 in Flint, Michigan, WOAY-TV in Oak Hill, West Virginia, and KMID-TV in Midland, Texas have all previously employed Nick as a weather forecaster. Since the fifth grade, when he became interested in snowstorms, thunderstorms, and hurricanes, Nick has known he wanted to forecast the weather.
Nick, a canine enthusiast, adopted Rose from the Richmond SPCA in November 2019. Before working at NBC12 News, he worked as a meteorologist and a reporter for WEYI-NBC25 in Flint, Michigan from 2016 to October 2018. During his time there, he worked as a weekend meteorologist and as a science/weather/human interest reporter 3 days a week. Additionally, he worked at WOAY-TV as a Chief Meteorologist in Oak Hill from May 2015 to September 2016, while there, he served as an anchor and produced weathercasts each weeknight for the 5, 6, and 11 pm newscasts using Weather Central 3D: Live weather graphics and later, WSI MAX & MAX Storm graphics.
She Assists the News Director in the hiring of new weather talent, reviewing demo reels, conducting phone interviews, etc. He was also responsible for the social media presence on WOAY’s Stormwatch Facebook page, with multiple posts each day. Before that, he worked as a weather anchor/MMJ in KMID-TV Big 2 News from April 201 to February 2015. He anchored and produced weathercasts on weekends, filled in for morning show weather and weekday evening weather as needed. He enjoys time with his wife, going on outdoor adventures, working out, eating delicious food, and watching football.
