Madden is a Capitol Correspondent for KXAN News. She covers statewide stories and reporting on the Texas Legislature in Austin for more than a dozen stations across the state. Before moving in Austin, she worked at Nexstar’s WHO 13 News in Des Moines as a political reporter and weekend anchor. During her time in Iowa, she extensively covered the 2020 Iowa Caucuses and interviewed several presidential candidates.
Monica enjoyed covering the state legislature, putting into context the policies and issues that affect all Iowans. While at Mizzou, she worked at the local NBC affiliate, KOMU 8 News as a reporter, anchor and digital producer. While in campus, she was involved in lots of extracurriculars such as the Student Suicide Prevention Coalition, Mizzou Off Broadway, and various leadership roles in her sorority.
Madden was always keen on politics, but truly caught the bug after spending a semester in New York City interning for Andrea Mitchell Reports at NBC. During her free time, she loves being outdoors. She loves spending time with friends over a good meal, live music, and theatre. She mostly covers politics but regardless of the topic she is always open to a good story.
