McCoy serves KARK as a breaking news anchor and an investigative reporter. He joined the station in 2015. Upon joining the station, he initially served as a general assignment reporter. Moreover, he fights to shed light on wrongdoing and hold the powerful responsible. After joining the station, he ultimately provided coverage for the Little Rock Police Department and other crime-related issues across the state.
His reporting has led him countrywide. Further, he has provided coverage for many tornadoes, a number of hurricanes, and Arkansas’ mass executions. In 2016, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Mid-America Chapter awarded him and others for their drastic weather broadcasts during a tornado outbreak.
In 2019, he briefly stepped away from the newsroom and served in media relations for the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. While in law enforcement, the encounter strengthened his reporting and investigative skills. About a year later, he rejoined the news team and has been on a splurge of giving victims a voice, holding the powerful responsible, and sharing stories of people who are in need of aid.
During a 2021 investigation, he revealed how an Arkansas judge denied defendants the public defender. Moreover, McCoy testified before state lawmakers to supply insight into the problem. Later, the State Supreme Court reprimanded the judge. His reporting has been acknowledged with a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Investigative Reporting.
