After serving as a reporter for WTVT FOX 13 News in Tampa, Florida, for two years, Shingleton returned to the WBRZ News as an anchor in January 2016.
He was exposed to the world of broadcast television at a young age because his father Pat Shingleton served as WBRZ’s longstanding chief forecaster. Michael’s broadcasting career began before most reporters do. He worked at WBRZ as a floor crew member while still in high school, pushing cameras and running teleprompters before moving on to flip the tape and run cameras.
He decided to leave the camera’s shadow at this point. “I saw the value in telling a good story,” he claims. Just before Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in August 2005, Michael transferred to the news section as an editor. He eventually changed his role to photographer. He spent nine months temporarily relocating to Crawford Communication, particularly to understand satellite uplink operations. At the moment, Michael lives in Baton Rouge. Michael enjoys playing golf, working out, watching sports, and following current events when he’s not anchoring and covering the news for WBRZ.
