Cole is a Reporter and Meteorologist working for WFSB in Hartford. She graduated from Villanova University, where she pursued a degree in meteorology. She plays a valuable role as a substitute Meteorologist, offering her expertise during significant weather events. Her fascination with weather sparked shortly after Hurricane Gloria, when she was a fourth-grade student in West Hartford. She distinctly remembers witnessing a massive tree uprooted in front of her childhood home, igniting her passion for meteorology. From that point on, Melissa absorbed as much knowledge about the weather as possible, eventually pursuing a degree in Meteorology at Villanova University.
Melissa’s meteorological career took her to WIVT in Binghamton, NY, and WHP in Harrisburg, PA before she joined the WFSB team in 2003. She began her journey here as the Weekend Meteorologist and has since become an indispensable asset, especially during severe weather events, often stepping in for her colleagues. She has been a cherished member of the WFSB family for over a decade.
In addition to her meteorological duties, Melissa is also recognized as an Emmy-nominated reporter for the “Better Connecticut” show. Her recent Emmy nomination was for a story on Pediatric Cancer Awareness. Melissa thrives on the diversity of reporting, relishing the fact that no two days are ever alike. Whether it’s exploring a new bakery, highlighting a local invention, or featuring an exceptional student, she wholeheartedly believes that everyone has a unique story to share, and she takes pride in bringing these stories to the viewers of “Better CT” each week.
