Trent graduated in 2011, from the University of Richmond where he played baseball. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Rhetoric and Communication Studies. He was fortunate enough to cover a Women’s College World Series, multiple regionals and super regionals, and Sweet Sixteen. Furthermore, after college, he continues his playing career professionally. After a year and a half of making less than a substitute teacher and dining at the finest gas stations in the Midwest, Matt had to make the tough decision to retire.

Trent is a Weekend Sports Anchor at WBRZ-TV. He previously worked at KAGS-TV which is an NBC affiliate in College Station, Texas. He worked for the station for two years from November 2016 to November 2018. Prior to working at KAGS-TV, he worked for WCTI TV 12 and FOX 8/14 in New Bern, North Carolina where he served as a Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter. He was at WCTI TV 12 and FOX 8/14 from May 2015 to October 2016.
Before working in New Bern, North Carolina, he was in Lima, Ohio Area where he worked for WLIO from February 2014 to May 2015. There, he served as a Sports Reporter/Anchor. He had previously worked for WRIC-TV8 in Richmond, Virginia for 7 months as a Sports/News Photographer. Before becoming a Sports/News Photographer he was an intern for the station from August 2013 to November 2013. He also interned at WGSR 47 Star News for three months from October 2012 to December 2012.
During his free time, he goes to the golf course or the movie theatre. He showcased his skills in delivering sports news and conducting interviews, leaving a lasting impact on the local sports community. Additionally, he worked as an Efficiency Expert at Trent Brothers Music Co. in Reidsville, North Carolina. While working in Texas, he reported on many stories like the Women’s College Worl series, and numerous regionals and super regionals sports events.
