In her “Forever Family” segment, she presents a foster child who is available for adoption every Tuesday. These reports led to hundreds of phone calls and numerous adoptions. She sat on the board of directors for ChildNet, which oversees the child welfare system in Broward and Palm Beach counties and defends abused, neglected, and orphaned children because she is passionate about children.
Quirantes is also a member of the Advisory Board for the AVDA, an organization that provides alternatives to ending violence and domestic abuse to foster violence-free relationships and social change. She has previously served as a director. Additionally, Quirantes spent ten years on the board of the H.O.P.E. Project, which offered affordable mammography to underserved and uninsured women in the counties of Palm Beach and Martin. She has received various honors.
Quirantes most recently won two Suncoast Regional Emmy Awards, one for her coverage of Hurricane Dorian’s devastation in the Bahamas and the other for her coverage of the Parkland school shooting. She also received a “Palm Beach Achiever” award and appeared on the front cover of Palm Beach Woman Magazine for the first time. She received the “Women in Power” award from the National Council of Jewish Women, the “Community Leadership” award from Delta Kappa Gamma, and the title of “Hispanic Woman of Distinction for South Florida.”
