Liz Owens is an American Producer/Reporter working for WRDW in Augusta, Georgia, United States as a Senior Investigative Reporter. She joined the station in March 2011. She previously worked at WSPA-TV in Spartanburg, South Carolina as a general assignment reporter.

Murrow and Emmy award winner, she has a track record for holding the powerful accountable, exposing corruption, and uncovering systemic failures. Her reports have led to resignations of politicians, changes in law and policy, and state and federal investigations.
Before going back to her home state to join the I-Team, Liz reported for local TV stations in Winston-Salem, N.C., Dayton, Ohio, and Greenville, S.C. In 2021 she was named a Fellow by the USC Annenberg for Health Journalism. Owens data project exposed inequity in access to public education among local homeless students.
Liz is a nerd for data, lover of documents, and a devoted practitioner of the field of fair and ethical journalism. She is a two-time Emmy-winner and a recipient of two National Edward R. Murrow Awards. Throughout her career she has been honored with more than a dozen Regional Murrow, Gabby, and AP awards.
However, Owens most cherished award is “Best Mommy of the World” which she was given to her by her daughter Willow before she became an uncool and embarrassing mother. She and her husband Scott are adventure addicts and adrenaline junkies.
During her free time, she receives therapy for her condition by escaping to the outdoors. She loves to run, kayak, hike, explore new places with friends and family, and ride two or four wheels.
