She has been sharing what she has experienced during her recovery journey since May 2020. Some of the experiences that she has been sharing include emergency room visits, multiple surgeries, and rounds of chemotherapy.
Thackston said, “More pain than I can put into words, but also more joy” just after she completed chemotherapy, and rang the ceremonial bell at Hematology Oncology of Indiana. The Oncologists were telling Thackston that her cancer was curable but in her podcast, “Life With Lindy,” she said, “You hear Stage 4 and it’s really scary.”
Just after a few months of celebrating the milestone, and returning to the anchor’s desk, her doc came to find that colorectal cancer had spread to her left lung. Thackston says that her recovery journey has been rough but despite that, she has been able to anchor TV news all through it.
