Prior to working at KOIN-TV, he worked at KPTV-12 where he served as a news anchor as well as a reporter from April 1982 to January 1985. He had previously spent about WOKR-TV 13 serving as a reporter from May 1980 to June 1981. He kickstarted his journalism career by working at WHCU where he served as a reporter. He went to Cornell University where he attained his Bachelor of Arts in Political and government in 1979.
Over the years, he has enclosed several stories including earthquakes, political scandals, flooding, and mass shootings all across the USA. He has also received several awards and honors including the Associated Press Award and several civic awards. He also received a regional Emmy Award in 2021 as well as a 2020 regional Emmy for anchoring.
