In 2014 he jumped from the 100th TV market to the 12th TV market. While working in Phoenix, he obtained records that showed a charter school district did not comply with open meeting laws where district management admitted the mistake and changed their policy.
Jon crisscrossed the state to cover wildfires and dust storms. He managed to find that some of the Phoenix area’s wealthiest residents had skipped their fire tax payments for years. Prior to going to Phoenix, he worked as a weekend anchor and lead reporter in New Bern, N.C. During his time in North Carolina, he was awarded two best news writing awards by the Associated Press.
