Zone is a Sports director working for WFSB in Hartford. He embarked on his career at a Syracuse, New York radio station, before NBC brought him to Los Angeles, where he assumed the role of weekend sports anchor at KNBC-TV. Joe’s diverse career journey included three stints at WNEP-TV in Scranton, Pennsylvania, a tenure at WJAR-TV in Providence, Rhode Island, a brief stop at WCBS-TV in New York, and experience at WFLD-TV in Chicago.
Before he arrived in Hartford, Joe worked at WSTM-TV in Syracuse, New York, where he reported on the Big East, the New York Yankees, NASCAR, and golf. Joe has had the privilege of covering a wide array of major sporting events, ranging from the America’s Cup to the World Cup. Besides being a devoted fan of the Yankees and Giants, Joe also finds solace in his passion for saltwater aquariums.
During his three separate stints at Channel 16 in Northeastern Pennsylvania from 1978-79, 1981-86, and 1988-94, Joe undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the region. Research indicated that Zone was the most recognizable but also the least popular television personality in the local market. In addition to his regular weeknight sportscasts at 10 and 11, Joe hosts the “Two-Minute Drill,” a segment driven by his opinions that airs during the 6 o’clock newscast.
