Harthorn began her role as the evening anchor at WWMT in January 2023. She leads News Channel 3’s broadcasts on weeknights at 5, 6, and 11 pm, as well as the News Channel 3 Live at 10. With over 18 years of experience in television news, Jessica has received recognition through numerous esteemed journalism awards across several states including Michigan, Tennessee, New York, and Wyoming. Additionally, she serves as an adjunct professor within the Department of Communication at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Before returning to Michigan, Jessica spent five years as the weekday morning anchor at WTVC in Chattanooga, Tennessee. During her tenure there, she was twice named a finalist for the Tennessee Associated Press Award for Best News Anchor and Short Light Feature in 2017 and 2019, respectively. She also held positions as a community relations director and adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
From 2011 to 2017, Jessica worked as the weekend morning anchor and reporter at WWMT, earning two Emmy nominations for her health/science reporting in 2016 and her ongoing coverage of a cold case murder in 2015. Jessica’s career also includes time as an anchor and reporter at WEYI in Flint, Michigan, where she received the Michigan Associated Press’s Best Individual Reporter award in 2010 and the State Bar of Michigan’s Wade H. McCree Award in 2011 for her series on changing Michigan’s Paternity Act.
Before her role at WEYI, Jessica served as the 6 pm anchor at WICZ in Binghamton, New York. Where she garnered recognition from the New York Associated Press and The New York State Agricultural Society for her coverage of various topics, including struggling dairy farmers. Jessica’s broadcasting journey began in 2006 at KTWO in Casper, Wyoming. Where she was honored with the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters award for Best News Anchor in 2008.
