Jessica Burch Career
Burch works as a meteorologist at KPIX 5. When she started working on her private pilot’s license at the age of 15 she found her love of weather and climate science early. She studied meteorology at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla where she did ROTC and was commissioned as an Army officer in 2019. As a military pilot, she knows that lives can depend on an accurate forecast. In the California Army National Guard, she is now a 1LT flying a Blackhawk helicopter in a MEDEVAC Unit based out of Sacramento.
She loves working for the country and taking part in the state mission. She started his on-air career at KRCR where she was the weekday evening meteorologist. Burch has reported everything from fire seasons to severe weather, with plenty of sunny days in between. When she’s not working, she volunteers with the JFCS, flying small Cessnas over the bay, or taking a stroll with her black lab, Chopper.
