Howell works for ABC 32 News/WNCF/Alabama News Network where he serves the station as Traffic Reporter. Prior to joining the ABC 32 News team, he was working in Tennessee. After moving to Tennessee in the month of July 1999, he formed the Montgomery Skywatch traffic reporting service.
He has been reporting road conditions in the city and Central Alabama ever since. Asides from this, his reports can be heard on CBS 8 and ABC 32 on weekday mornings and afternoons. He holds over 50 years’ worth of experience having worked in Knoxville, Tennessee where he has worked at WIMZ and WIVK. Asides from this, he has served as a Program Director at WNOX. He then went on to serve as a morning show host for about 12 years at WOKI-TV.
Asides from this, he has worked as an afternoon drive announcer and production director in Wheeling, West Virginia working for WWVA, the home of Jamboree USA. Asides from this, he was a finalist in the worldwide CLIO Awards for a series of commercials that he wrote, produced, and voiced. His commercials have also won several Gold, Silver, and Bronze ADDY Awards. He has been featured in the Radio Advertising Bureau.
Howell has also edited documentaries that won two Robert F. Kennedy Awards. He also took first place in the Sigma Delta Chi awards for a documentary series that he wrote and produced on drug abuse. Away from work, he enjoys recording videos, flying, traveling anywhere that requires a passport, and photography.
