While pursuing his Master’s degree, Geosciences with an emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology, Wheeler served as a weekend meteorologist at WABG-TV in Greenville, MS, and a lab instructor. Immediately after graduating, Wheeler stayed at the university for one year, working as a storm chase team leader and a meteorology instructor. He also taught weather lab at Virginia Wesleyan College.

Additionally, he his a member of the American Meteorological Society and the only meteorologist at WAVY-TV having the American Meteorological Society’s seal of approval, an honor he received in 2004. Before joining WAVY-TV, Jeremy was a meteorologist at WAAY-TV in Huntsville, AL.
Beyond his work in meteorology, Wheeler spends most of his leisure time with his family. He is also a fan of crossword puzzles, plucking guitar, and describes himself as a movie buff. While health is a priority to him, Wheeler usually exercises three to five days a week.
