Later on, she joined the Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College in 2002 where she earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in Spanish for four years. Wielgus works at WKRN as an anchor in Nashville Tennessee, anchoring newscasts with Bob Mueller from 5,6, and 10 p.m. Believing her passion as a reporter, she enjoys her position which allows her to get out in the field frequently. She enjoys living in Music City and since 2017 she has been part of the WKRN News 2 team. Before joining the station, she worked at Bloomberg in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area from January 2008 to April 2008.
After leaving Bloomberg, she joined KYTX CBS19 as a weekend anchor and reporter in Tyler Texas Area where she worked from May 2008 to June 2011. Weilgus then left and joined WWSB-TV as Goodmorning Sun Coast and Noon Anchor in Sarasota Florida Area. She worked in that position for two years and changed her role to an anchor and health reporter live from 5, 6, and 11 p.m.
She often hosted a Suncoast View” talk show live community-news-focused and political round table discussions and appeared as a guest. During the presidential election campaigns of 2012 and 2016, she reported their many stops through the swing State of Florida. In Philadelphia, she also covered live from the 2016 Democratic National Convention.
Welgus works on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics Tennessee in her free time. She has volunteered through multiple organizations including the Nashville Pi Beta Phi alumnae club, Junior League, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. A dancer turned runner and ex-swimmer, achieved five half-marathons.
