Winchester works as an investigative reporter at WDIV. He is the head of WDIV’s “Help Me Hank” Consumer Unit. During his long tenure, he worked as a weekend morning News Anchor and reporter. Ruth Spencer’s “Ruth to the Rescue” gave the reins of the popular consumer unit to him in 2015 when she retired. At WDIV he reported some of the biggest stories in metro Detroit.
He reported; the murder investigations of Jane Bashara, the conviction, of Tara Grant, the trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, the scandal, and Ronald Jabalee were featured on Dateline NBC and The Today Show. Winchester has been honored with The Spirit of Detroit Award for his work to help the people in our city, the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Awards, and the Emmy Awards.
He worked to assist transform Thurgood Marshall Elementary School in the city. Winchester worked with the Detroit Pistons to build the school library and gymnasium. Winchester joined Central Michigan University after graduating from high school. Later, he finished his studies and earned a Bachelor’s degree.
After being ripped off and working to warn us about the latest scams and recalls affecting our community and our families he has assisted hundreds of Detroiters get justice. He made stops at television stations in Miami (CBS), up in da U.P., Marquette (NBC), and Flint/Saginaw (CBS) before coming home.
