He has been sports director and primary sports anchor since 1984, making him one of the longest-serving sports anchors at WJAR 10 News in Cranston, Rhode Island.

Among his notable coverages are the 1983 America’s Cup race off Newport (one of his first major assignments), the 2006 Olympic Games in Torino, Italy, and the Boston Red Sox winning the 2004 World Series. In addition to his on-air role, Carpano served as play-by-play announcer for Brown University football, Providence College hockey, & numerous high school games, acted as a Championship Boxing ring announcer, and was the public address announcer for Providence College basketball games at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center for over 20 years.
