Since joining ABC13 in 1995, Evan has experienced all of Hampton Roads’ peculiar weather conditions, including hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, and nor’easters. Growing up in a coastal area of Virginia, Hurricane Gloria and the “Circus Blizzard of 1980” had a profound impact on him. Evan worked as an intern for Dr. Duane Harding, one of the deans of Hampton Roads weather, while he was a student at Chesapeake’s Deep Creek High School.
His projections are now available on weekdays at 4 p.m. He loves college football and is a devoted Wolfpack fan, especially when NC State defeats UNC. Evan possesses the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) credential and is a member of both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. A commendation from his peers for the caliber of his weather reports. The CBM certification is sought as a symbol of distinction and approval among radio and television meteorologists.
Evan is the Director of Weather Content, which involves a lot of “behind the scenes” work while he isn’t on the broadcast. He is a computer expert who is in charge of designing and maintaining all the electronics in the storm-chasing vehicle and the 13News Now Weather Center. Additionally, Evan routinely provides weather talks at neighborhood elementary schools and works with the Chesapeake 4-H Clubs.
