She is a contributing reporter for WCVB’s iconic local news magazine, the station’s ongoing effort to highlight people helping others in communities across Massachusetts, and champions WCVB’s recurring “5 For Good” stories.

The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) awarded her“5 for Good” story entitled “Food Truck Fighting Hunger” with a prestigious national Gracie Award in 2017. Before joining the station, she anchored the weekend newscast at News 4 New York, NBC’s flagship station in New York City, and also worked for WNBC’s weekday morning newscast, “Today in New York” as a primary fill-in co-anchor.

Tarantal has covered major stories ranging from the election of Pope Benedict to hours of coverage during Superstorm Sandy and the tragic shootings in Newtown, CT, and the death of Pope John Paul II. In December 2007, she joined News 4 New York as a general assignment reporter.

Before that, she worked at WVIT-TV in Hartford, CT as a general assignment reporter since October 2005. Previously, through the ranks at News 12 in the Bronx, she began working as a general assignment reporter prior to being promoted to anchor of the station’s weekday morning newscast.

At WHDH-TV in Boston, she worked as a production assistant. She was a paralegal for the Office of the Attorney General in Boston prior to starting her broadcasting career. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in government from Connecticut College after graduating.
