Alvarez is a Reporter at FOX 5. She earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism at California State University, Long Beach. Her career as a reporter and anchor has taken her across the country. After college, she got her start in news straight out of college working as a news assistant for KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. In El Paso, Orlando, and Albuquerque, she worked as an anchor/reporter.
She has reported some of the biggest stories to make national headlines. After the ambush of the 507th Maintenance Company in Nasiriyah, Iraq during the 2003 invasion, she brought viewers up-to-the-minute information from the Fort Bliss army post.
Alvarez helped to report the infamous Casey Anthony case while working for the FOX O&O in Orlando. Moreover, she reported a lot of severe weather assignments in Florida including tropical storms tornadoes, and hurricanes.
Reporting space shuttle launches from Kennedy Space Center was her favorite assignment. In her spare time, she stays busy shuffling her kids between school, baseball, and softball.
