Eachus received his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in December 2017. He went on to study at the California University of Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and a Master of Science degree in Sports Management.

Pristine academic journals including Weather, Climate & Society, and Natural Hazards have published Josh’s doctoral work. Josh has been asked to advise field leaders on best practices at meteorological conferences across the country as a result.
Additionally, Josh established the inaugural Southeast Louisiana Integrated Warning Team, an event that brings together local media, emergency managers, and the National Weather Service to enhance local weather communication. Josh took part in a two-week summer storm chase throughout the nation while there for academic credit. In September 2013, Josh began working for WBRZ. He was accredited as a broadcast meteorologist by the National Weather Association in 2013, and since then he has been a professional member of both the NWA and the American Meteorological Society.
For their work during the January 2014 winter storm, he and longstanding WBRZ Chief Forecaster Pat Shingleton were honored with an Associated Press award for “Best Team Weather Coverage in Louisiana” in 2014. Josh was named Louisiana’s “Best Weathercast” in 2021 by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters. He started WBRZ’s “Dog Days of Summer” in 2016, a yearly initiative to boost adoptions for canines in need of a home. Josh has assisted Friends of the Animals Baton Rouge, a partner organization of WBRZ, in raising thousands of dollars and placing hundreds of canines in new homes ever since the initial campaign.
